Hope everyone is doing great.

In anticipation of the coming Lapu-Lapu City Fiesta this November 20 and 21 , 2026, in honor of Nuestra Señora Virgen de Regla (Our Lady of the Rule), this area of the city below the Mactan First Bridge , has already installed some rides and games for amusements and recreations. Most of the near residents going there during night time to enjoy .

The city called Lapu-Lapu , was named after Datu Lapu-Lapu who ruled the place around 15 century ago .
Before,it was a Municipality of Opon. The town was founded and established under the name Opon in 1730 during the Spanish regime .

On June 17, 1961, Republic Act No. 3134 converted the municipality Opon into a city and renamed it Lapu-Lapu City as a tribute to the first Filipino hero,Datu Lapu-Lapu who defeated the Spanish invader led by Ferdinand Magellan .

The Patron of Lapu-Lapu , Virgen de la Regla was introduced by Father Avalle in 1735. He was an Augustinian monk and first Parish Priest of Opon during this time . He brought a picture of Virgen de la Regla and shared her story and great rule during the birth of Christ . People of Opon was inspired by her story and choose her as a patron of the City during this time .

The city of Lapu-Lapu has an area of 58.10 square kilometers and now it is already a highly urbanized city with estimated population of 497,813 during 2024 census. The city is considered now a highly populated , very crowded already. The problems of traffic in the city is daily especially during rushed hour and overflowing drainage during heavy rains. Nevertheless, this city is very beautiful and is called "Historic Resort City" and has lot of tourist attractions such as Mactan Shrine , Mactan world museum , Mactan New Town , hotels and resorts , beaches , 5 star hotels and many more .

Last night , I did my part time as hailing app driver of moveit under grab company . I dropped off my passenger at the site where the rides and games are installed in the big area below Mactan Bridge. I took some pictures of some amusements. The area is very wide and convenient for people who want to do the rides.
This is prior to fiesta of Virgen de la Regla in which people are enjoying it while waiting for big fiesta celebration.

Hello everyone,

When we were young, our parents always told us to go to the city and study hard. They wanted us to finish school and find good jobs because, according to them, life in the mountains was difficult. Farming was not easy, and they did not want us to experience the same struggles they had.

Of course, we followed them. We went to school, graduated, and looked for jobs. Some of my siblings even went abroad to work.

But after almost a decade since I graduated, I started looking at life differently. I realized that living in the mountains is better than in city. Actually, there are many opportunities here. We just need to be hardworking and learn how to make use of our land.

One of my brothers is a good example. He planted many cacao trees on his farm. I remember that not everyone appreciated what he was doing before. Some might have been thinking, where would he sell all those cacao beans? What could he do with so much cacao? For some people, it was just something that could be made into cocoa drinks.

He is not only growing cacao trees. He is also making his own chocolate bars. I find it amazing because we can now enjoy homemade chocolate without always buying from the stores. Whenever we want some, we can just get chocolate from his production. Haha!

What I like most about my brother is that he does not keep everything to himself. He always tells us to get cacao seedlings from his nursery so we can also start planting. If we want cacao beans or chocolate, he lets us get some without asking for payment.

And whenever we help him make chocolate, he still pays us for our work. That is why I always say that it is nice when one sibling starts doing well and also helps the rest of the family. We do not need to compete with each other. We can grow together.

Since I work online, I usually stay awake at night. My brother always reminds me that while I can still work online, I should also invest in long-term farming. He encourages us to plant cacao, rubber, coffee, and fruit trees. His point is online work can give us income today, but planting trees can give us something to harvest in the coming years.

Now, his cacao trees are growing, and he is becoming more serious about chocolate making. He produces 50% and 70% dark chocolate bars. The ingredients are cacao nibs, cane sugar, milk powder, and cocoa butter.

I also feel proud whenever I see his chocolate products displayed in different pasalubong centers, including stores in our municipality. Imagine, the cacao trees he planted before are now becoming chocolate products that other people can buy and enjoy.

I wake up early so that I can make a champorado with cocoa with this amazing view outside.

Sometimes I think about what our parents told us when we were young. They wanted us to leave the mountains because they believed there was a better future in the city. But now, we are slowly seeing that there is also a future here.

I am not saying farming is easy. It takes money, patience, and hard work. But seeing my brother's journey makes me believe that we should not underestimate what we can grow on our own land.

Maybe this is one of the reasons why I am also learning to appreciate farming more. We can work online, earn money, and still build something on our farm for the future.

I hope you're all doing great and stay active everyone wishing you all the best weekend ahead 😊 for todays blog, I am excited to share with you all about what I spent time together with my cousins residents.

Today early in the morning, I ate early to get ready to go to my cousin's residence to help me accompany going to the Department of foreign Affairs to inquire a passport.

When I arrived at my cousin's house, I wasn't planning on having breakfast, but they kept insisting that we eat together before we headed off to our destination.

I’m feeling grateful because, even though I wasn’t really planning to eat, I felt bad declining I didn’t want to offend my aunt and uncle. Besides, I actually liked their breakfast, it was very healthy. By the way, the food we had came from their own harvest in their mini garden.

While we were having breakfast, my cousin and I chatted about so many things, hehe. It’s really fun to talk with a cousin, especially since it’s been quite a while since I last visited their place☺️.

Upon arriving at our destination, it was clear just how busy the area was. The DFA office is located at the mall 3rd floor, and as you can see in the photo, the weather didn't look great it was already getting overcast. I felt relieved that I hadn't brought my toddler, Baby Naiah, especially since it looked like it was going to rain.

When we arrived at the Department of Foreign Affairs office, I felt completely drained due to the sheer number of requirements especially when applying for a baby's passport. Anyway, I managed to bring the requirements for my husband and myself, the only ones missing were for our toddler.

On my way home, I took a piece of candy from my pocket to eat. When I read what was written on it, I burst out laughing😆 it really made my day💖! Five minutes later, a notification pop out on my phone that my salary arrived in my bank account. I got so excited that I wondered, Is this magic, or just a coincidence? Haha🤣

And that's all for now, Thank you so much for taking time reading my humble blog, This really means a lot to me and see you on my next blog buh-bye 🙂

The thumbnail photo was edited to chat gpt image editor and All the photos are mine.

Yesterday, in my High school (school) the Catholic had their Mass and also for those Non-Catholics we also have our service, wherein our Youth pastor ~ Pastor James is the one who preach here in the room where we always have our gathering. We started by singing songs for the Lord and after that the message of God through His words ~ the Bible and through someone who explains us in a understandable way.

What amazes me is that there were so many students and that makes our heart rejoice in the Lord, because not only single but many they're around 46 students who were present and one of our greatest desire for these students is for them to know God through His word which is the Bible and in order for them to know about Salvation too, what is it really all about "Christ died on the Cross"

After our service, I told them that we will have a groufie pictures and yeah my heart rejoices seeing their precious smiles... such a genuine experience yesterday and indeed a blessed thursday.

And this too, the boys in the church and the other here were already a youth to their respected churches. As much as commitment to a church matters but what matters most is our relationship to God ~ a personal relationship. Not religion but RELATIONSHIP because that's what God wants from all the people of the world who will believe in Him.

We aren’t bound by the four walls of the room for learning; we could go beyond! Today was a testament to that!

Early today, we watched a video of a local TV personality featuring farms in Bohol, and one of them was Bohol Chocolate Farm! I can’t believe we haven’t been to any chocolate farm on our island. In early 2019, my husband and I went to Davao’s Malagos Farm, but since we didn't avail of an official tour, we had no experience with chocolate making, and so we decided today to move our classroom outdoors.

We watched the video at 9 AM over breakfast, booked the 2:30 PM tour, and we were out of the house at 10:30. Sixty-nine kilometers away from home, it took 1 hour and 20 minutes to reach, but we had to stop by Carmen for lunch at Cafe Tori.

The farm is located in the town of Sagbayan, Bohol; this 20-hectare farm is owned by Rose Amores-Hudson, and she is also the innovative head chocolatier of the luxury brand Victoria Amores Chocolates. She named the brand after her mother. She trained in Japan and created luxury bonbon chocolates of different flavors with Filipino influence. You can check its website to see these surprise chocolates placed meticulously in wooden boxes which are being sold as well in a specific restaurant in Cebu, Anzani New Mediterranean restaurant.

We arrived at the farm just in time. A staff member at the reception welcomed us and confirmed our booking. We only booked one for our six-year-old, but they required that there be at least one paying adult. Our booking was paid online via PayPal, but they also accept cash, bank transfer, and other online payments. Upon confirming the booking, we were also asked to choose the specific chocolate we would like to create, as well as the toppings, with a maximum of two options. There are additional fees for the toppings, by the way.

We didn't have to wait long, as our tour guide, Miss Normy, had arrived; together with us were also two other guests from Germany. We started with some introductions, and my little one was already very excited!

1. Cutting Open the Cacao Pods

The very first step of the chocolate-making process. The cacao pods are broken to get the cacao seeds. If you haven't seen one, you'll notice that there's flesh that has to be sucked. This fruit tastes like Mangosteen. We tried two varieties, and I found the first one sweet and good, while the second one was, for me, a bit thin-fleshed and not too sweet.

Miss Normy revealed the farm has 3 varieties of cacao. Also, fun fact: cacaos aren't endemic to the Philippines; they were brought by the Spaniards, and they came from the Amazon rainforest.

Today, the farm has 4000 fruit bearing trees that will live up to 200 years, while their best production is 25 years. These trees are mostly grafted, so they can bear different varieties in one tree.

Our brave little one also tried opening the pod! Today they have a machine to prepare the seeds. The flesh is also used for making Cacao Juice and vinegar!

2. Fermentation

The fermentation process takes six days. The cacao seeds are placed in these wooden boxes, and they'll stay in each box for two days, then be transferred to the next box, and so on. In the first box, the cacao seeds are still covered so they can produce lactic acid and good microbes can develop.

They have a smaller version, which can hold up to 20 kilos of cacao seeds, and another bigger box, which can hold up to 180 kilos for those months when the harvest is good, or it's cacao season.

This is a follow up post from this previous announcement.

The Changes:

@hiveph account delegates to @hivephilippines account and it's delegation rewards will go into the pool sent to @hivephtips.

@hivephtips will receive all the Hive rewards sent from Hive Engine token rewards + hiveph delegation rewards for delegating to hivephilippines. This means an increase incentives for those already delegating to @hivephilippines monthly.

The catch

There's no exact date the rewards will be released each month as the only requirement to be eligible is having your delegations be at least 7 days old. This is to prevent users from "timing" their delegations to get a piece of the pot and then undelegating.

How much Hive rewards would the delegators be earning now that these changes will be implemented? from an estimate as of the recent monthly reports, it's more or less double than what @hivephtips is distributing to delegators right now.

Why the changes? to improve the distribution of community rewards. If you have questions about how hiveph/hivephilippines curate, you can run the /profile function on discord to check the stats and the compilation posts on how the stake is being used. This is to support Filipinos on Hive and HivePH members (Filipino or not on the platform).

How can the community increase the rewards?

Delegated more, support the hiveph account, include it on your beneficiary for your posts voluntarily. Portion of the funds the community collects gets used to buy HE tokens or allocated to future charities. The more hiveph account accumulates HP, the more HP it can delegate to hivephilippines.

There are no plans to create a community token for HivePH.

Delegating to Hivephilippines doesn't mean you get an autovote nor does this community owe you anything for delegating.

You'll receive these rewards from the @hivephtips account.

As previously announced here

The distribution will be in proportion to how much you're delegating to @hivephilippines and only accounts that have delegated beyond 7 days are eligible. Each month, we use a portion of the funds generated by the community account on Hive Engine Tokens and our holdings have generated some consistent rewards which will be shared to the rest of the community members that are part of building this community up. This isn't as effective as owning the Hive Engine tokens yourselves but in a way, your HP delegated gives you a piece of the liquid Hive rewards from these tokens.

IMPORTANT:

It takes at least 7 days after delegating to make your account eligible for these rewards.

How often will these distribution take place?

At least once a month. We're not really talking about a large amount of Hive collected here so it's easy to miss. The value grows if we get to stack more Hive Engine tokens, people voting on @hiveph posts, delegating to @hivephilippines and even setting hiveph / hivephilippines as beneficiary to your posts for donations.

The goal is to keep growing the sources of income to offset the costs of delegating and even have a surplus of rewards.

Another important reminder:

This will never be overstated enough but voteme privileges are still privileges and not a right. Anyone whoever feels entitled to the votes should reexamine why delegators are willing to let their HP be borrowed to distribute the votes.

It doesn't matter if the post isn't quality content, whatever that means. As long as it's not spam, plagiarized, AI generated and within the guidelines of voteme usage, it's fine. We're not looking to support elite bloggers and try to keep our resources be available for almost everyone that's willing to be part of the community.

For those members and non-members that feel sour or entitled to the votes, especially the ones that aren't even delegating but cashing out more. For whatever life circumstances you find yourself into that prompts you to powerdown, that's your money and your business. We respect that choice and you do you.

Just don't think like you've been wronged by people who chose to keep their Hive staked and delegated to the community accounts because these delegators are the reason why some can sustain their cashing out habits. I mean, whales, orcas, dolphins and minnows in the Hive ecosystem retain their status as that based on their HP because they don't powerdown. And because of this choice, their stake can sometimes be used to vote on people that have no interest in building on their own accounts.

Like I said earlier, whatever you do with your money is your business but don't ever think that this community or anyone who chooses to stake their HP ever owes you a vote if your whole modus was only extracting as much value as you can without paying the favor forward. There's a reason why 50/50 is set where author rewards can be in HBD and HP. The HP can remain staked while you can cash out with the HBD in balance.

And because we're a Filipino based community, it gives the wrong impression that it's exclusive to Filipinos, it's not. Anyone that really wants to be part of the community can just hang out at the server, get active, make friends, and then have those friends vouch for them to get a membership. It's peer to peer reviews like this that most don't past the screening test to see if they are are good fit for the group culture.

Making friends with the other members is the bare minimum and if you fail at that, you're unlikely going to be invested in what this community will be up to moving forward.

A recurring controversial theme is the use of the #voteme channel, it's a channel where members can trigger the @hivephilippines account to vote on them and other users using a preset vote weights based on their server roles. It currently uses a Merit-Based Voting system where members who do more for the community get more % weights rather than a Stake-based voting where if one delegates more they get more. Voteme privileges are a side perk and never a guarantee while being part of the community. The system was in placed to distribute wealth to new users or users that have less resources from users that have plenty to spare. This let's newbies get a better start at the platform because they aren't expected to delegate anything (no one is) to @hivephilippines just to use it. It's support handed out by community members that want to pay it forward.

It's also constantly monitored to avoid any sense of entitlement. As much as possible, voting % weights are being balanced depending on users usage. If there is more demand for the vote and less voting power to go around, decreasing the weights % helps ensure votes are delivered to as many users as possible. If there is less demand for the votes, the voting % are raised so that the few that use it get more. This system helps give a stable return to delegators.

This can't be stressed enough, delegating to the account does not automatically mean access, we're not a delegate for upvote service. Yet sometimes the message gets lost with some sense of entitlement.

Below is the data for the last 30 days of @hivephilippines voting profile. Frequency means how many times the top 10 accounts were voted. Note that this doesn't give us the value in $ because it only shows the number of times the accounts were voted. One vote at 1% and another vote of 50% in a different occasion can just look like 2 on the frequency counter.

What we need is pairing up with percentage

These shows the top accounts with the largest vote weights. When paired with the frequency numbers above, it adds confirmation of who has benefitted the most from the last 30 days. For users like @juanvegetarian, you can see that he's not on the top 10 when it comes to getting upvoted but because his voting weights are large, he still gets more value out of it even if he posts less. There's no % that says one is benefitting too much because that is arbitrary. Even if one has 30% on their total percentage count, that doesn't mean it's significant if the account voting only has 100 HP, but it is alarmingly greedy if the account doing the voting has a 100,000 HP. So using this metric requires more context before jumping into conclusions.

Managing the voteme channel is negotiating with the age old Supply and Demand, the supply is the votes and the demand comes from users. While our voting power recharges constantly after use, it's not an infinite resource because voting at 100% decreasing your total voting power to 2%, and that 2% recharges fully every 2.4 hours. We only have 24 hours in a day so that means there will be times when it dips below the threshold that no votes can be handed out when there are more users triggering the vote.

A soft indicator I use to gauge an oversupply and low demand is when my own percentage in the @hivephilippines increases and makes it to top 10, the account automatically votes on my account once it gets past 98% VP, and since I've been posting regularly while the VP sits at above 98%, this meant I need increase the voting weights of other users so that my account doesn't get voted by this account.

What if we have a community where everyone pitched in some piece of their resources to support others on the platform? That's great, this gives more incentives to those newbies to grow their accounts and those that have more can help out even without any direct active involvement, their HP can indirectly impact others.

Now the problem is how to distribute the wealth better with the fancy tipping system, there are two approaches here when it comes to implementing voteme privileges:

Stake-based privileges versus Merit Based Privileges

Now as much as I like the stake-based voting privileges because it follow the natural flow of give more so you can get more directly from your HP delegated, this also means more competition for the limited voting power for members that don't delegate or have little HP to offer for the community. That means for users that are new, haven't built their stake or chronically powering down, they get a reduced voting percentage compared to those that can offer more.

This may look fair but the account isn't setup to be a guaranteed self-vote, the function is a side perk privilege and meant to be used for people that can benefit the growth the most. For users that had spent more than half a year but still haven't built their own stake, you're missing the point if you think your tenure on the platform means anything. You could be existing on the platform without ever involving yourself with the community, yet have this thinking like the support is just freely handed because you exist. Stake-based voting privileges benefits those who give more and and get more but it squeezes out the smaller users of the community.

Merit-based voting privileges is the current system implemented. If you do more for the community, you get rewarded more, despite not giving any delegations because none of that is a requirement, by being peer reviewed as a member by others, you earned that access from community acceptance and you can raise the perks from getting more involved with the community.

The cons of this system is that not every engagement automatically means value is being added to the community. One can just be active without doing actually doing anything significant. One can be triggering the voting privileges on others but it's just a repeating cycle on the same names or small circle group. These behaviors aren't really beneficial for community growth overall. The point was to spread the benefits and invest on individuals that are interested in growing their accounts on Hive while being of help to others.

The exclusion criteria is includes users that have existed for a long time but still refused to get involved, users that chronically cash out more than they reinvest into the platform, users that have a barren section on the comments, users that don't really want to be involved with this community's vision and others.

Whatever resources people earn from the platform is their choice on what they want to do with it, cash out, support someone, reinvest and etc. But depending on these behaviors and their long term outcomes are the basis on which users end up being dead weights, excess baggage, value leaks or extractors, by all means you're entitled to do whatever you want with what you have but don't guilt trip this community into thinking you're entitled to get supported for existing.

Anyone can check the /profile command on hivephilippines and see the voting track record there. The diversity of names is being monitored and so as the voteme channel usage. If you think there is some bias about some names being favored, you can just hit me up at #iron-cage and we'll talk it out as a community because transparency reasons.

Adjusting the voting powers

Any delegator who feels like this is unjust can take out their delegations from the community anytime. Nobody is obligated to support the community account and you'll be doing us a favor by reducing that sense of entitlement you feel. The fact that HivePH has been generous at supporting people who are new and users that have been around is already something.

In other curation communities, you're expected to provide some quality content posts because that's the ideal way to get some rewards. Here, I understand not everyone can create good content but you can still try your best to make a post and get some small rewards for your trouble. I know this fact gets taken for granted because most would be chasing those big votes, even if sporadic, unpredictable and maybe part of the system includes luck, they'll be chasing for things that aren't guaranteed.

The greatest asset any organization has is its human resources. You can install multiple systems that serve its people but the outcomes would still depend on what the people do with those given resources. So if the organization is run by people who value self-interest more than the group’s well-being, you’ll get a community that eventually fade into irrelevance.

Giving people more money was never a long term answer. It’s one of the first hard lessons learned when it comes to community building on Web3. If people come together for money, more of it isn’t going to solve the problem, it will keep the group together until the well dries up. We’ve seen this happen for the past few years on the blockchain where new names come and go during bear and bull runs. I’d like to think HivePH is beyond that. But it’s naïve to think people got convinced to join web3 without being offered by those social rewards.

The health approach is creating a culture where we are a community on Web3 that happens to earn monetary rewards getting involved on Hive. Instead of we’re a community centered on maximizing those social rewards.

The measure of one’s individual success in being integrated into HivePH is when they are gone, someone organically makes a query of where have they been? Because if no one ever asks how you’re doing despite your long absence, then that just means no one in the community has any good ties with you to care enough.

The misconception Filipinos have when they enter the HivePH server or get involved with HivePH is getting support in the form of votes just because they exist. Everyone goes through a trial where candidates for membership are peer reviewed by other existing members to see if they are a good fit for the group culture. This means everyone has to start 0 and make friends with more people in the community. It’s not benefits handed readily, you have to get to know the community and interact with its culture to see if you can belong. Now if your attitudes just don’t align with the group culture, you’re out.

Members have the individual responsibility to screen candidates they want in. Another misconception is how these memberships are dictated by staff, they’re mostly not. 1 Staff voting is still 1 vote for OR against the membership. It’s hard to earn the membership and even harder to earn it again once lost. The part where strangers don’t get when it comes to HivePH culture is how closely-knit the group is. Once you’re in, it’s easier to ask for favors because that membership to “Hayahay” is a badge that says other members have deemed you good for the community and therefore have less reasons not to help.

Bayanihan is the local term for integrating a sense of community spirit. You can have a conceptual meaning like helping community members out when they are in need for this and that. But operationally speaking, if one HivePH member asks for support over something during times of distress, they can expect more than half of the time other members will take initiative to step up and help for their sake as long as the request is reasonable.

Bayanihan is one concept the community tries to integrate without the pitfalls of being too giving as a community. There have been many ingrates and do shitters in the past so more stress on how members are screened gets emphasized. We’re looking for people who can believe in the same things and use the systems in place to do more for others beyond their Hive routine. Those monthly reports on how we use the funds we collect from delegators, blogging contests, events, and other incentives in place. Those are the things that we do to bring in value into the community.

Because where else can you find a Filipino-based community where you get the network, resources and people’s precious time to help you get started just from the onboarding? Staff members and members that do more for others do not earn any monetary rewards for helping out new users. It’s all handed freely. We got a channel where helpful guides are compiled.

We share the resources that can help new users thrive and earn and this costs only a new user’s precious time to attend the webinars we host. No downpayments, no invest here talks, no paid tutorials for Hive, no guilt trips for beneficiary cuts on your posts, or get coerced to join the community right after onboarding.
