Hola, comunidad. Hoy me salgo un poquito de las manualidades para contarles una historia muy linda (y un poco loca) que me pasó hace casi dos meses. Hay una gata que lleva muchos años frecuentando mi casa. Es una gata de calle que solo venía a comer, así que no le prestaba mucha atención. Cada vez que ella salía embarazada, nunca traía a sus gaticos a la casa, realmente no sé dónde los tenía.

Hello, community. Today I'm stepping away from crafts a bit to tell you a very nice (and a little crazy) story that happened to me almost two months ago. There is a cat that has been frequenting my house for many years. She's a stray cat that only came to eat, so I didn't pay much attention to her. Whenever she was pregnant, she never brought her kittens to the house; I really don't know where she had them.

Un día, de la noche a la mañana (literalmente), me acosté a dormir y no había gatos aquí. La gata no estaba, no había nada, y yo ni me imaginaba que ella ya iba a parir. The big surprise

One day, overnight (literally), I went to sleep and there were no cats here. The mother cat wasn't here, there was nothing, and I never imagined she was about to give birth. When I woke up very early in the morning, I started hearing "meow, meow, meow". I said, "What is this?". I went out and, when I looked, there were four tiny little kittens. They weren't newly born, they were already a few days old because they were clean, a little fuzzy and everything.

Yo quería entrar en shock. Me sorprendí y dije: "¿Cómo esta gata se trajo cuatro gaticos para acá para la casa?". Vivo en una parte donde hay muchas casas de dos pisos y el techo es alto. Al ratico veo que ella llega y se pone a amamantarlos.

Yo dije: "Pues ni modo, no los voy a sacar para la calle, no tengo tan mal corazón como para eso". Y bueno, desde ese día están aquí.

How did they get here?

I was about to go into shock. I was surprised and said, "How did this cat bring four kittens here to the house?". I live in an area where there are many two-story houses and the roof is high. In my mind, I thought the cat brought the kittens one by one, left one here, went to get the other, left it... I can't explain it any other way. A little later I see her arrive and start nursing them.

I said, "Well, whatever, I'm not going to throw them out on the street, I don't have such a bad heart for that". And well, since that day they are here.

🍼 El reto de la alimentación

Ha sido bonito y a la vez un proceso, porque yo no estoy acostumbrada a tener gatos y al principio no sabía qué darles ni cómo hacer. No estoy en una mala situación económica, pero tampoco estoy en una situación tan buena, y yo decía: "¿Cómo voy a alimentar a cuatro gatos?".

Desde ese día empecé a comprar sardina y hacía arroz. Pero me di cuenta de que no los estaba alimentando bien, porque comían y al ratico tenían hambre y estaban maullando para que la gata los amamantara (a veces ella se va por horas). Entonces tomé la decisión de empezar a comprarles Catarina. Desde el día que les doy eso, están muchísimo más tranquilos en cuestión del hambre.

The feeding challenge

It has been nice and at the same time a process, because I'm not used to having cats and at first I didn't know what to give them or how to do it. I'm not in a bad economic situation, but I'm not in such a good one either, and I said, "How am I going to feed four cats?".

From that day I started buying sardines and making rice. But I realized I wasn't feeding them well, because they would eat and a little later they were hungry and meowing for the mother cat to nurse them (sometimes she leaves for hours). So I made the decision to start buying them cat food. Since the day I've been giving them that, they are much calmer when it comes to hunger.

A Lazy Afternoon with Our Beloved Furry Friend

Hello everyone! Today, I want to share a few close-up and candid moments of our cute little family cat. Whenever I sit down to relax, this little fellow always manages to steal the spotlight with its lazy and adorable expressions.

Cats have a unique way of making even the simplest moments feel special and peaceful.

Look at those expressive eyes! This cat has been a wonderful part of our home for a long time. Even though my elder sister used to care for it the most before her marriage, all of us now look after it together, making it an essential member of our daily routine.

Whether it is resting lazily on a chair or just giving funny, grumpy looks around the room, capturing its mood swings is always so much fun. Those little whiskers and soft paws just melt your heart instantly.

Spending time with pets is one of the best ways to destress after a busy day of writing and working online. Their quiet presence brings so much warmth and positivity into the house.

Pets truly bring endless joy and companionship into our lives. Taking care of this lovely cat always brings back sweet memories, and I love sharing these little slices of everyday life with all of you here on Hive.

Curator Cat: It's Caturday and Cold and Rainy

Greetings, Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

We hope everybody has had a good week, and that you are all happy and well as we enter into this weekend and with that another Caturday!

Surveying the world from above!

It has been quite cold and windy today, and the Hoomans have finally broken down and turned on the whole house heater, which means we've been competing to lay next to the heating vents!

It is at times like this that we're all very grateful to be indoor cats. I can't even imagine how miserable it must be to be out and trying to survive as a street cat when it is wet and cold.

Today, the Dad-Hooman has been working on one of my favorite things for him to be working on: his business that involves lots of little pieces of paper that he calls ”stamps.”

Apparently there are other Hoomans out there who collect these things and the Dad-Hooman trades with them and gets money in the process, which means we have the ability to buy cat treats and more cat food.

And that can only be a good thing! After all, it would be a catastrophe if the supply of cat food would fall too low!

Anyway, I love being part of what he works on and I can stand in the middle of all the little pieces of paper and supervise... but I just don't understand why he's not more appreciative of my help.

Meanwhile, the Mom-Hooman is finally feeling better after her recent outpatient surgery and she is back to working on her creative items as well. It is always good to have options as to which Hooman to spend time with!

On the whole, we've had a pretty quiet week around here, and we cats are really noticing how the days are getting shorter especially when we have heavy clouds like now.

We actually let the Hoomans sleep in till almost 9:00 this morning because it was so dark that we didn't realize that it was time for breakfast!

Meanwhile, the Hoomans seem very concerned with this thing going on in the outside world where there are lots of Hoomans who are choosing other Hoomans to make decisions for them on supposedly "important" things.

As a cat, I have to admit that I just can't make head or tail of this whole thing they call ”politics.” Thankfully, we cats don't have politics!

Although if we did, I'd definitely be voting for more cat treats, and a cat jungle gym in every home!

This Time, The Little Kitty Got Himself Injured...

William, or Will, as I usually call him, is going through another one of those episodes in which his personality gets him into trouble and the rest of us have to deal with the consequences. He is almost four years old, and if there is one thing I have learned about this cat, it is that he has never been particularly interested in living a peaceful life. He is intense, possessive, territorial, and occasionally violent. I love him, obviously, but I am not going to pretend he is some innocent little angel who has been unfairly mistreated by the world. Will has a character, and that character is sometimes a problem. This time, he got into another fight, and the result is the face you see in the picture. He is wearing a cone, receiving treatment, and being taken care of. Everything is under control, thankfully, but he looks like someone who has just discovered that his personal decisions come with consequences.

The funny thing about William is that he seems to have absolutely no interest in learning from experience. He keeps returning to the same situations with the same determination, as if every fight were a completely new opportunity to establish his authority over the neighborhood. I sometimes wonder what exactly goes through his little head when he sees another cat. Does he feel challenged? Does he believe he has a reputation to defend? Is there some invisible feline committee keeping score of these encounters? I have no idea, but I would not be surprised if he genuinely believed he had a point to prove. He has been like this for most of his life, so this is hardly a shocking development. Still, there is something absurd about watching an animal repeat the same mistake over and over without apparently connecting the experience with the outcome. Humans do this all the time, of course, but at least we have the advantage of being able to explain our bad decisions in elaborate paragraphs.

Now he has to put up with the cone, the treatment, and the indignity of being cared for by people who probably understand his situation better than he does. And judging by his expression, he is not particularly pleased with any of it. He looks offended, suspicious, and vaguely disappointed in everyone around him. I can almost imagine him wondering why his freedom has suddenly been restricted when all he did was go outside and conduct his usual business. The fact that his usual business involves fighting other cats seems to have escaped his attention entirely. There is no way to explain to him that we are not doing this to ruin his life, that the treatment is necessary, or that staying out of trouble for a while would be a perfectly reasonable idea. We can only take care of him and hope that he recovers well. Meanwhile, he has to endure the terrible injustice of being looked after, which is apparently a burden he considers beneath his dignity.

I do feel bad for him, because whatever his temperament might be, he is still our cat, and seeing him injured is never pleasant. His inability to understand the consequences of his behavior does not make those consequences any less real. That is probably the part of having pets that people tend to overlook when they joke about their ridiculous habits. We can laugh at their personalities, their stubbornness, and their strange little rituals, but we are also responsible for them when things go wrong. William cannot understand why his body hurts or why he suddenly has to wear this ridiculous accessory around his neck. He cannot look back at his previous fights and decide that perhaps he should reconsider his approach to conflict resolution. He just knows that something unpleasant has happened, and now the people around him are handling things he cannot handle himself. So, beneath the comedy of his expression and his apparent outrage, there is a small animal who needs patience, attention, and time to recover.

8 cats 😺 at home//08 gatos 😺en casa

Hello #Caturday. I wanted to share that after 16 months of living with 8 cats, I’ve realized that each one has its own personality. Some are quiet, others are whiners, some are big eaters—but they’re all smart and untamable.
I’ve had to divide them into groups to feed them.
I’ve come up with meal plans to ensure they’re well-balanced and satisfied. The hardest part is the cost of cat food—I have to buy two bags a week, plus sardines and rice. Not to mention the bags of litter. No one wants to adopt them, though sometimes I think they wouldn’t be cared for the way my family does.

The calico cat is the mother; Ambar is the oldest cat, spayed and one year old; there are three 11-month-old males; and three 6-month-old kittens—one female and two males.

Hola #Caturday. Les comparto que despues de 18 meses de estar conviviendo con 08 gatos me he dado cuenta de que cada uno tiene su modo de ser. Unos son quietos, otros llorones, unos comelones e inquietos todos inteligentes e indomables.
He tenido que implementar la división en grupos para alimentarlos.
He ideado platos de comidas para que este bien balanceado y que queden satisfechos. Lo difícil son los precios de la gatarina, debo comprar 02 bolsas semanales también sardinas y arroz. Ademas las bolsas de arena son costosas. Nadie quiere adoptarlos, aunque a veces pienso que no serían cuidados como lo hacemos mi familia y yo.

La gata calicó es la madre, Ambar es la gata mayor esterilizada mas de 01 año, 03 machos de 11 meses, y tres pequeños de 06 meses, una hembra y dos machos.

Desde que empecé a dejar que mi gata saliera al patio común a jugar, correr y hacer sus necesidades en la tierra directamente, para ella ha sido una rutina que se cumple a rajatabla. Pide que le abra la puerta para salir y pasado un tiempo se sube a la ventana para pedir que le abra y poder entrar a dormir su siesta.

Pero cuando los días son lluviosos, ella no termina de entender que debe ajustarse al clima si no quiere mojarse, y obviamente no desea hacerlo como buen felino, así que pasa sus días entre dormir mucho, asomarse por el ventanal del balcón y espiar a través de las rendijas del respiradero que está a su nivel, cerca de la toma de gas para la calefacción.

Algo que me da mucha ternura es que al momento de abrirle la puerta principal y ella ve que está lloviendo, retrocede y se va al ventanal del balcón, como si esperara que del otro lado de la casa el clima fuera diferente para poder salir, aunque termina igualmente frustrada y maúlla raro, como quejándose de la situación.

Luego de ello pide mimos, se me instala en el regazo como si yo fuera el diván de un psiquiatra y cuando se calma se va a dormir en otro lugar. Eso pasa cuando estoy en casa, pero si sucede en mi ausencia, su reacción es diferente: rasca todo lo que consiga en casa, bota el agua de su bebedero, pide comida cada 5 minutos, corre sin control por la casa hasta que se cansa y se va a dormir al sofá.

Por eso, y en función de tener la fiesta en paz, le doné un pantalón que iba a tirar y se lo puse en la caja que usa para dormir, como el truco de las madres con sus recién nacidos, que le colocan una prenda con su olor en la cuna para que se sientan acompañados. Lo mejor es que hasta ahora ha dado resultados y la mantienen calmada cuando no estoy en casa y quiere salir.

Ever since I started letting my cat go out to the shared patio to play, run around, and do her business right on the ground, it’s become a routine she follows to the letter. She asks me to open the door so she can go out, and after a while, she climbs up to the window to ask me to let her in so she can take her nap.

But on rainy days, she doesn’t quite understand that she needs to adapt to the weather if she doesn’t want to get wet—and, like any good cat, she obviously doesn’t want to get wet—so she spends her days sleeping a lot, peeking out the balcony window, and spying through the slats of the vent at her level, near the gas line for the heater.

Something that really melts my heart is that when I open the front door for her and she sees that it’s raining, she backs away and goes to the balcony window, as if hoping the weather would be different on the other side of the house so she could go out—though she ends up just as frustrated and meows strangely, as if complaining about the situation.

After that, she asks for cuddles, settles onto my lap as if I were a psychiatrist’s couch, and when she calms down, she goes off to sleep somewhere else. That’s what happens when I’m home, but if it happens while I’m away, her reaction is different: she scratches everything she can get her paws on in the house, knocks over the water from her bowl, begs for food every 5 minutes, and runs wildly around the house until she gets tired and goes to sleep on the couch.

The best part is that so far it’s worked, and it keeps her calm when I’m not home and she wants to get out.

These are my three male cats; they are playful, mischievous, and pampered, yet loyal and obedient—they’re also quite lazy and very cute. Each one has a distinct personality and their own charming quirks. In return for the love, affection, and care I’ve given them, they have enriched my daily life with their joy, companionship, and playful antics. For this, and so much more, I thank God for everything He has given me.

When Gaby was being born, minutes after her brother Pablo, I was impressed because he looked completely black.

Buenos días, pues si, estamos sumamente contentos con el gatico, no solo acapara nuestras miradas sino también nuestras camaras, hemos tomado una cantidad importante de fotos de el, como esta que les muestro aca, es sumamente fotogénico

Nos tiene asombrados con su agilidad y destreza, además que hemos tenido uno s incidentes con el colchón, por alguna razon se orina allí, en el forro y en el edredón, entonces subimos el colchón y el niño lo escala con una facilidad.... Para arriba y para abajo, escala mas fácil que lo que salta...

"He amazes us with his agility and dexterity. We’ve also had a few incidents involving the mattress—for some reason, he ends up peeing on it, soaking the cover and the duvet—so we’ve tried propping the mattress up, but he climbs it with such ease... El tema es que como es un gato todo gordito, todo panzón, los saltos como que no se le dan muy bien, lo hemos visto un par de veces, destinarse a saltar a un sitio y quedar a la mitad o a la cuarta parte del salto, lo cual es.... Bastante cómico.

"The thing is, since he’s such a chubby, pot-bellied cat, he’s not exactly great at jumping. We’ve seen him a couple of times set out to leap somewhere, only to end up just a fraction of the way there—which is... pretty comical."

Ojo, no deja der ser sumamente tierno, con esa carita nos termina convenciendo de muchas cosas, terminamos cediendo a dar mas comida, dejarlo pasar al cuarto con el colchón tirado en el piso, últimamente ha agarrado ese espacio para dormir, le gusta su ventana y en esa esquina se ha quedado quieto

"Mind you, he’s still incredibly sweet; with that little face of his, he manages to convince us of all sorts of things—we end up giving in and offering him more food, or letting him come into the room where there’s a mattress on the floor. Lately, he’s taken to sleeping in that spot; he likes the window, and he’s been staying quite still in that corner."

Comenzó poco a poco a colocarse ahi, llego un punto donde decidimos ponerle su camita y.... Asunto resuelto.

"Little by little, it started settling in there; eventually, we decided to put its little bed there, and... problem solved."

Aquí pueden ver, como Morfeo, le va haciendo cariño y sus ojos van siendo cada vez mas pesados, termino cayendo, durmiéndose por horas terminamos viendo varios capítulos de una serie y jugando unas cosas mientras el dormía plácidamente, obviamente sin hacer mucho ruido y movimientos bruscos donde el estaba.
