Churches should pay tax. Period!

I once worked in a church organization as a staff member, and I learnt that taxes were deducted, although in small percentages, from our salaries. This was also applicable to many branches of the church. So, yeah, churches that do not rely solely on tithes and offerings pay taxes, while those that mainly depend on offerings and tithes, such as churches without sales points of any kind, those that do not own schools, or those without other establishments, do not pay taxes. Most of the time, churches in this category, I mean those that do not pay taxes, are the ones that are not registered with the government.

Honestly, I didn't have any issues with this arrangement when I learnt about it, but now, there's a big issue, and that's basically the fact that all churches should pay taxes, whether they are big or small.

Why?

Back in the days, when I was living in the village with my parents, we had a church at the back of our window. The church wasn't registered; it was a sole proprietorship church, and the clergyman used to raise an unbelievable amount of money every Sunday.

Hold on!

We would finish our service at our church and meet their church service just starting. We could hear everything they did in the church, and every Sunday, this clergyman made sure to call for donations to cater for the pastor's needs for the week. People usually gave out N100,000, N200,000, N300,000, and even more. In those days, these amounts were very high in value. This man was practically milking the members, but the members weren't complaining either because the clergyman was into "prophetic ministry," and they were feeling the "doings."

Apart from this, churches these days are basically business-oriented. As a matter of fact, no church in this modern era, at least in Nigeria, is established solely for the purpose of worship without any business interests. Yeah, I said what I said, and I didn't mince my words. Most of the time, people argue that churches are not just about money but are also established for the very purpose for which a church is meant to exist. Well, no matter how people argue about it, churches in Nigeria have become business centres. Period!

Do you know that even the big churches, I mean those that ought not to be "extorting" money from their members because the organizations are already big enough to cater for themselves, are still pressuring their members to give more? Why shouldn't these churches pay taxes? Imagine a popular clergyman in Nigeria who boldly came out and instructed his members not to buy Christmas clothes if they hadn't paid their tithes because doing so was wrong. Come on! Naaaaah! The government should tax churches. Period!

They're milking too much money from their members, and these amounts of money need to flow back into the economy through taxes.

This topic was geared toward each member of the community, telling us their thoughts on people who came online to source for funds and donations. In a world where it was difficult to show transparency and trust that people are using funds collected for their real reasons, many of these monies end up being misused.

We got to see that while there are bad elements in such practices, it doesn’t mean that all of them are like that. There will always be those who genuinely need the money being donated. And for those, it will always be better to give them the benefit of the doubt. This was an enlightening topic, indeed.

What is Zero-Day (CVE-2026-441) EXPLOIT?

If you are into crypto like most of us, you might be using extensions that hold your crypto keys, such as MetaMask. In a way, your browser is your wallet. This Zero-Day exploit (where system abusers found a bug before developers could fix it) is very serious. This specific exploit, CVE-2026-441, targets all Chromium-based browsers like Brave, Edge, and of course Google Chrome. Since this exploit is already happening as I am typing this to inform you, your private keys and seed phrases are at risk. Anyone with bad intentions can potentially drain your hot wallet.

Technically, we can describe this as a Use-After-Free memory exploit. Your browser has a small locker where it stores your keys or phrases temporarily when you are interacting with anything. Usually, when you sign with your keys, the browser takes data from the extension and deletes it immediately, but not this time. This CVE-2026-441 bug makes browsers forget to empty that small locker. Your browser accidentally runs a hacker's code as well because of this CVE-2026-441 bug.

Why Your Extensions Are the Target

Without this CVE-2026-441 bug, your browser ideally keeps things separated in small lockers for managing extensions. We call this a sandbox, and its purpose is to ensure that extensions do not communicate with each other. However, with this bug, hackers can force them to communicate. If you are using any unprofessionally made site, such as the many AI vibe coded sites currently rising in popularity, your wallet extension might be on Coinbase, but it can also interact with a hacker's site. This allows them to access your browser's memory. In an ideal condition, this is not possible, but this is a bug, so things change. Using data scraping methods, anyone with bad intentions can get their hands on your keys and drain them.

How to Safeguard Your Keys/Phrases Right Now

Just follow these three steps to update your Chromium-based browsers. Alternatively, it might be best to just use Firefox for now, though you should still keep an eye on the news until things settle down. Also, remember to relaunch your browsers after the forced update for it to take effect.

Critical Precautions for Key/Phrases Safety

Use Firefox or Safari for your crypto tasks at the moment until we are 100% sure about what is happening and whether it is fully fixed. A fix made in a hurry can also have more bugs. Stay safe, buddy. I hope the CSS memory bug did not drain your funds before this message reached you!
