I’ve had the good fortune to welcome someone I’ve long wished to meet—and the moment has finally arrived! It’s @karelysk89, my dear friend. I am truly grateful to her—first, for making the effort to track me down, and then for our meeting here in Buenos Aires. I’ll share the full story and all the details in a future post; for now, I want to highlight a special gift she brought me from Brazil, where she lives. Karelis discovered that I’m a caffeine addict, so she gifted me half a kilo of coffee—straight from Brazil, the world’s largest coffee-producing nation!

The coffee brand is Estrada Real Premium, produced by the company 3Corações. This company offers a wide variety of coffees, intended both for export and for the domestic market. Among all the brands available in that market, it is one of the most popular in Brazil and enjoys high consumer demand.

The packaging features a combination of green and a somewhat dark ivory or beige—a pairing that is visually excellent. Its four sides provide information on its origin, instructions for use or a recipe, as well as nutritional details, a list of ingredients, and more.
The "Three Hearts" (Tres Corazones) brand was created by Pedro Basilio—one of the founders—in honor of his three daughters. As for the name "Estrada Real," it serves as a tribute to the 18th-century trade routes in the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro.Notably, the bottom of the packaging includes a recommendation: to preserve the coffee’s aroma and flavor, it should be kept in its original container and stored in a cool, dry place free from strong odors.

I prepared it just as I usually do with all the coffees that come my way: First, I set the water to boil. While it’s heating up, I get my traditional Venezuelan coffee filter ready and add a generous portion of ground coffee—about two tablespoons—for a single medium-sized cup. Once the water is at a rolling boil, I pour a small splash over the grounds to dampen them and wait a minute. Then, I continue pouring the water until I have enough for a full cup. Naturally, this brew results in a very strong cup of coffee, with flavors that truly burst on the palate. For me, it’s important not to add any sugar to this first—and most delicious—cup; besides, the coffee already contains some, as it is a *torrado* (sugar-roasted) blend.

Don’t think for a moment that it ends here—oh no! Because the coffee grounds left inside the filter still hold plenty of flavor and color. I add water to them—enough for two more cups—and what I get from this second brewing, I call café claro, guayoyo, or guarapo. This version is perfect for dipping bread and butter into, and it’s also a great accompaniment to breakfast. Since it turns out lighter and has a milder flavor, we do add sugar to it—that’s just how we were taught to drink it.

This is the most iconic photo to take in Buenos Aires—together for the first time at the world’s most famous Obelisk. Greetings, everyone, and welcome to my blog.

I haven’t talked much about my coffee moments—a ritual that is almost sacred to me. Lately, I’ve spent many days thinking, overthinking, tidying up, organizing, and constantly planning new ideas—always accompanied, of course, by a cup of coffee.

To give you an update, my recovery period for my injured arm is being extended until the pain is completely gone. I saw an orthopedist yesterday, and it turns out I have a muscle tear; it hasn’t healed because I kept re-injuring it through constant activity.

After waiting for several hours—I was practically falling asleep in the waiting room—I was finally seen around midday. I even had my third cup of coffee for the day! There’s a woman who sells coffee, tea, and snacks right at the hospital entrance. This recovery period means zero training—no running, jogging, or walking. The "Pink Race" (Carrera Rosa) is this Sunday, which breaks my heart—I’ve never missed one before! Still, I plan to go just to support my group, provided I can get the arm sling I was told to buy during yesterday’s appointment. I also have an appointment for an X-ray coming up in the next few days.

Being forced to rest for the past two weeks while waiting to see the doctor gave me the chance to sit down and organize things that had been put on hold. I’ve been working on my personal writings—poems, short stories, and so on—which I hadn’t been able to illustrate or organize while waiting for my new computer equipment. It was high time to dust them off from the digital files on my flash drive. This has taken several days, and I work on it whenever I don’t have any other pressing tasks. Every time I sit down in front of my laptop, I’m accompanied by a delicious cup of coffee—poured into one of the many mugs in my collection, which now includes my Christmas-themed ones!

On another note, during a recent trip to the supermarket, I set out to buy a small package of each of the brands I like. That’s when I discovered a brand I hadn’t encountered before—Café Damasco. Even more surprising, however, was running into a former student from my days as an active educator; she happened to be representing that very coffee brand. During our brief conversation, she shared that she had just graduated and that this job had helped support her while she was in university.

I love learning about the educational journeys of my former students, especially after so much time has passed. It was a similar experience with a young man I once taught in secondary school—he now owns a chocolate factory and a cacao plantation. I must admit, it always fills me with such satisfaction and pride to see them grow in such a beautiful way, knowing that I played a part in their development.

"Pink Month" is nearly coming to an end, but the activities that take place during this time always leave us with an important message. Prevention is key—it’s something we must practice all year round. We cannot afford to be careless; we should perform self-exams regularly and, of course, see a doctor if we notice anything unusual.

The Art of Feeling at Home: My Experience at Zona Café

Hello, everyone. I hope you’re all doing great. Welcome to my blog, my dear Coffee Lovers.

Today I want to join in on the community’s weekly initiative, since this post really caught my attention—it’s about the coffee shops where we become regulars and the staff come to know our tastes in a very personalized way. This happened to me at a coffee shop I used to frequent in my city, where I was a regular customer for a long time. Since I went there often and had friendly conversations with the staff about various topics, they learned to figure out exactly how I liked my coffee.

It was there that I tried a Frappuccino for the first time, prepared by the café’s owner herself, with whom I struck up a lovely friendship. I used to go in the afternoons to have a coffee while organizing my schedule, planning my blog activities, and taking care of personal matters. The café is called Zona Café, and I made it my mission to try every item on their menu to find out which one would become my all-time favorite, knowing they had expert baristas and impeccable presentation.

I tried everything: from a drink with liqueur—whose name I can’t recall right now—to the classic café con leche and strong coffee, all the way to the chocolate-based drinks. After working my way through the entire menu, my undisputed favorite turned out to be the mocaccino. The combination they achieved between coffee and chocolate resulted in a delicious drink; sometimes I felt the chocolate flavor overpowered the coffee itself, but the blend was simply spectacular.

Over time, my routine there became second nature. I’d often stop by in the afternoons, and if I happened to be chatting with someone at the entrance for a moment, all I had to do was wave to the staff from a distance to let them know I was on my way. By the time I finished my conversation, I’d walk in and sit down at the table, and the waiter would already be coming toward me with a beautiful cup, decorated with a cute heart design, accompanied by cookies—all before I’d even said a single word to order it. They’d call me by name and give me truly personalized service, constantly checking on me at the table to make sure I had everything I needed.

This warmth was reflected in a very special way on the day I earned my latest college degree. To celebrate, I went to lunch at the café with my family and even brought a cake to share. The staff welcomed me with great joy and congratulated me with sincere affection. When we finished lunch, they brought my mocha to the table. My husband, surprised, asked me, “But didn’t you order anything? How do they know that was the coffee you wanted?” The young man replied immediately, “No, the thing is, she’s a regular customer—we know her tastes perfectly well and know exactly what to prepare so we don’t let her down.”

There are very few coffee shops where they manage to build that genuine connection between the customer and the staff—including the owner herself. Nothing compares to the experience of visiting a place where they know your preferences, treat you with warmth, and where you can exchange ideas about the quality of the beans or the brewing style you enjoy most. Without a doubt, nothing beats personalized service for a true lover of good coffee.

enjoying an evening espresso coffee near the night market

Lately, the nights have been so exhausting. I’ve been wanting to enjoy some coffee in the evening—though, for most people, that usually makes it impossible to sleep. That doesn’t apply to me, though; even if I have coffee at night, when it’s time for me to sleep, I still get sleepy regardless.

As it happens, I took my child to a night market tonight; they mentioned that it had been a long time since their last visit. Once we arrived, we noticed a coffee vendor—the coffee looked delicious, so my husband and I stopped by to enjoy a cup. It wasn’t a typical stall, though; the coffee was being sold out of a vehicle that had been specially outfitted for the purpose.

So, this is the place—they sell coffee right out of the back of a pickup truck. It’s called 'CANDU' (addiction) coffee; the idea is that once you enjoy a cup, you’ll get hooked and keep coming back for more. My friends say the coffee here is incredibly good, though, to be honest, this is my first time trying it.

I went to this place with my husband, my child, and one of my nieces, so I ordered 4 drinks: 2 coffees for my husband and me, a chocolate milk for my child, and an iced orange juice for my niece. It turns out they don’t just sell coffee; they offer a wide variety of other drinks as well.

There are sachet drinks and also some juices—though not a huge variety—but they’re a real lifesaver when you’re tired from walking around the night market; after all, a drink is exactly what you need.

Alright, let’s have a drink—let’s try the espresso they sell here, which is said to be good. And sure enough, once I took a sip, I found that the coffee flavor really stood out; it was a bit bitter and not very sweet. That was my first impression upon trying it.

According to my husband, this is what "real" coffee should be, as the coffee flavor comes through more strongly than the milk; in my opinion, however, it would be even better with a little more milk added.

And look at the packaging: it's made of plastic cups, with the brand name of the coffee brand, Kopi Candu, written on the front, and beautiful words of wisdom written on the back for us to read. Hehehe.

An Interesting Collaboration of Coffee and Hot Chocolate

....and I'm back at work, with this lovely combo. Its a Quack special because this coffee was left at the lab yesterday and I have taken it upon myself, to be the drinker..... of the coffee now.

It didn't even cost me a penny lol 😂

Now, there is no creamer here at this lab, but i have already made this concoction a couple times in the past. I dont always come to this location but over the years, i have made my rounds. Its a nice quiet night here, just 1 patient on schedule, and he happened to show up as was appointed. Its extra hours on the week too, so i cant complain.

The Coffee/Chocolate

This brand of special hot chocolate is called Clev'r. Like clever i suppose....

aren't i so clever 🤔 😏 🙄

.... and the coffee, from a place called Stans Donuts and Coffee.... and this is a party size, box of their Special Blend Coffee....

Its good stuff, not super premium, but when its kinda free...

I have already had 1 cup, and I already made this 2nd cup....when i decided that it was also time to make a post.... for Gods sake ...., its been like a week. Price is interesting, holding $0.05, while the overall market has settled into a bit a range with some fluctuation up and down. So my cup of coffee here doesnt quite look the most delicious....but i assure you, its actually pretty good 😊

Just Workin

Here at this lab, its like a hospital and i have access to the lab here. So i found a cool, couple angles on our small hallway/lobby area, and some interesting angles on the floor and chairs out here.

And before i go on and on about something or nothing, lemme take a sip of this #cinnamoncupcoffee and find some other spot to take a picture, where i may be feeling like a BOSS at the moment.

Selling Coffee... and similars

I need money!

The economic situation in my country keeps causing problems for its people. I’m one of those who barely have enough to get by day to day. Since I found #hive, it has been one of my escape valves from a monetary point of view.

I also sell some products, mainly natural foods like gofio, cocoa, and coffee. The latter I’ve sold sporadically, always trying to formalize it, though I’ve never quite managed.

So right now, coffee won’t just be my main source of energy to start the day or to spend an afternoon among friends or strangers—it will also be one of the essential points to help me make it to the end of the month, and who knows, maybe even give me a slightly better quality of life.

At the moment, there’s a lot of coffee out on the streets. To the point that the price has dropped a little. But finding cheap coffee doesn’t guarantee quality, which is basically what my friend and I offer with ours.

Warmth, flavor, and aroma as good as—or better than—legally registered brands that arrive in our country through importation. We keep selling “expensive,” because we know our product is very good.

And now, to top it off, I came up with a small commercial, using some videos from Pixabay and editing with Canva. I’ve already posted it on my social networks, and I think this marks a before and after. Regular customers are starting to notice that things are getting serious.

I truly regret not being able to offer each member of the community a little taste of the coffee we have here. The feedback you can give us is very valuable, because we know there’s no better review than that of a coffee addict.

I've always been amazed by how a refreshing sip of coffee, either hot or cold, can quench someone's thirst and offer a moment of relaxation after a tiring day.

And how privileged I am to sip a perfect blend of rich, bold, creamy, ice-cold coffee while taking in the mesmerising view of the lush green mountains and the breathtaking scenery of the West Philippine Sea; I am beyond grateful to God for this.

Hello fellow coffee lovers!

After one year of savouring the privilege of living in the Philippines' so-called "Last Frontier, a beautiful tropical haven - Palawan, allow me to share with you this coffee shop I was lucky enough to visit: the Nagtabon View Deck Cafe.

Now let me take you on a virtual walk to see what this relaxing coffee shop has to offer.

Upon entering, we were welcomed by a wooden sign on which the word "Nagtabon" is carved. Oh, by the way, if you ever wonder where they got this name, Nagtabon is a sitio here in Brgy. Bacungan, Puerto Princesa, where it is located,

There was also an entrance fee of 20 PHP (1.07 USD). For me, it's very affordable, and you can already enjoy the priceless, amazing view around.

Here, they offer quite a variety of beverages to enjoy. They have here coffee, which there a lot of flavor to choose from. They have Americano, latte, cappuccino, macchiato, frappe, and many more.

They also don't disappoint matcha lovers because a variety of matcha-flavoured drinks is also available here.

For those who prefer milk-flavoured drinks, they also have them here.

Also, other refreshing beverages like tea, juice (in different fruit flavours), milk tea, and soda.

And of course, you can also choose from their sandwiches and a variety of pica-pica to pair with your preferred beverage.

And to truly quench your thirst for a full tropical summer experience, they also offer a refreshing fresh "buko"/coconut juice.

For me, since the scorching heat of the afternoon sun was saying hello during our visit, and my taste buds were craving a sip of coffee, I ordered an iced coffee latte, which cost 165 PHP (2.60 USD).

My friends and I also ordered loaded fries and quesadillas for our meryenda/snacks, and the perfect view of the pristine, clear blue seawater in front of us made the moment even more perfect.

We took a moment to sit and enjoy the delicious snacks and drinks that we ordered, while also filling our souls with the breathtaking view of the mountains and sea in front of us.

I could not help but pause in stunning astonishment as I stared at the wide sea, shimmering as the sun mirrored the blue water below, with the lush greenery touching the sea as I viewed it from afar. Oh, a tropical paradise, indeed.

And of course, before going home, I need to have this mandatory picture: strike a pose beside this Philippine flag, proudly waving.

Indeed, Palawan showcases the breathtaking charm of a tropical paradise, and this Nagtabon View Deck is one of the perfect spots to truly enjoy and admire its captivating beauty.
