Greetings! I’m back here in the community once again, trying to get back into a consistent routine with various things. Today, I’m responding to the following:

Saludos, hoy estoy por acá nuevamente en la comunidad. Tratando de retomar la constancia en otras cosas. Hoy estoy respondiendo lo siguiente:

If you live in an area of world where seasons are usually predicable and regular, do you like that stability, where weather usually follows expected patterns? Or do you like more variety, where weather is more changeable? Is there one season when you really thrive and you're the happiest?

When it comes to the weather, I think I generally prefer to know what to expect. I like having an idea of what the day will be like so that I can organize my activities, decide what to do, and prepare for whatever comes my way. I don’t necessarily need every day to be the same, but I do appreciate a certain level of stability. I suppose this has a lot to do with my personality; I’m someone who truly values a sense of security.

This also carries over into other areas of my life. I like having plans, knowing where I’m headed, and feeling that I have some control over things. That said, to be honest, life doesn’t always work that way. There are days when you have to adapt, shift your plans, and learn to go with the flow of whatever is happening. Perhaps that’s why I value the peace of mind that comes with predictability not because I don’t enjoy surprises or changes, but because there are already enough unexpected things in life without having to guess what the weather will be like, too.

Si vives en una zona del mundo donde las estaciones suelen ser predecibles y regulares, ¿te gusta esa estabilidad, donde el clima suele seguir los patrones esperados? ¿O prefieres más variedad, donde el clima es más cambiante? ¿Hay alguna temporada en la que realmente prosperas y eres más feliz?

Creo que, con respecto al clima, la mayor parte del tiempo prefiero saber qué esperar. Me gusta tener una idea de cómo estará el día porque así puedo organizar mis actividades, elegir qué hacer y prepararme para lo que venga. No necesariamente necesito que todos los días sean iguales, pero sí disfruto cierta estabilidad. Supongo que tiene mucho que ver con mi personalidad, porque realmente soy una persona a la que le gusta la seguridad.

Y creo que eso también se refleja en otras áreas de mi vida. Me gusta tener planes, saber hacia dónde voy y sentir que tengo cierto control sobre las cosas. Aunque, siendo honesta, la vida no siempre funciona así. Hay días en los que toca adaptarse, cambiar los planes y aprender a fluir con lo que está sucediendo. Quizás por eso valoro tanto la tranquilidad de lo predecible no porque no disfrute las sorpresas o los cambios, sino porque ya hay suficientes cosas inesperadas en la vida como para que también tenga que adivinar cómo estará el clima.

Holaaa, amigas de Ladies Of Hive. Me contenta estar de nuevo por acá escribiéndoles. Los días han estado bastante calurosos, aunque con algo de lluvia, y el tema de hoy es sobre el tiempo: cuál es el clima que prefiero o la estación que me gustaría vivir dentro de mi país. Tal vez por ser un país del Caribe es natural que los días sean más cálidos y que el tiempo no cambie demasiado; sin embargo, ¡cómo me gustaría vivir en un lugar más fresco y con un clima frío, aunque tenga que ponerme suéteres todo el tiempo, jaja! Antes de responder a la pregunta que propuso @thekittygirl, me gustaría invitar a @vezo para que también pueda participar en este nuevo concurso.

Hellooo, friends at Ladies Of Hive. I’m delighted to be back here writing to you. It’s been quite hot recently, although we’ve had a bit of rain, and today’s topic is about the weather: what sort of climate I prefer, or which season I’d like to live through here in my own country. Perhaps because we’re a Caribbean country, it’s only natural that the days are warmer and the weather doesn’t change much; however, how I’d love to live somewhere cooler with a cold climate, even if it means having to wear jumpers all the time, haha! Before answering the question posed by @thekittygirl, I’d like to invite @vezo to take part in this new contest too.

Me gustaría poder vivir en una zona más fría, aunque sé que eso tiene sus pros y sus contras. Aun así, creo que es el clima que más me gusta y con el que me siento más cómoda. En mi país, Venezuela, casi todo el año hace mucho calor, y en estos días se ha sentido más fuerte de lo normal, probablemente por el cambio climático, entre otras cosas. Siento que, a pesar de ser un país cálido, cuando llueve se suaviza un poco el calor habitual. Aunque la lluvia también trae ciertos problemas, como el desbordamiento de ríos o lagos (así que no es del todo perfecto), sí que hace falta para aplacar la fuerza del clima tan soleado de aquí.

Dentro de Venezuela hay algunos estados —aunque son pocos— donde el clima es diferente: es más frío e incluso puede llegar a nevar, pero eso ocurre solo en lugares muy específicos. Siempre he soñado con vivir en un lugar que tenga todas las estaciones; me gustaría experimentar ese tipo de cambios climáticos. Siento que es más llevadero porque sabes que en algún momento es verano y luego llegará la primavera, y confieso que me da un poco de nostalgia no poder vivirlo en mi país.

I’d like to be able to live in a cooler area, although I know that has its pros and cons. Even so, I think it’s the sort of climate I like best and feel most comfortable in. In my country, Venezuela, it’s very hot almost all year round, and recently it’s felt even hotter than usual, probably due to climate change, amongst other things. I feel that, despite being a warm country, when it rains the usual heat eases off a bit. Although the rain also brings certain problems, such as rivers or lakes bursting their banks (so it’s not entirely perfect), it is certainly needed to temper the intensity of the very sunny climate here.

Ladies of Hive Community Contest -#312

Hello, everyone! 🤗

I discovered this Ladies of Hive contest with an interesting theme from archontribe post. I thought it would be nice to try. It's my first to join Ladies of Hive community contest.

Indeed weather affects our emotions. When it's sunny, we feel more cheerful but when it's gloomy, starting tasks-- or even getting out of bed-- is a little slow and tough. Would you agree?

In my country, we only have two seasons: summer and the rainy season. I wish we had four. In the summer, it's easier to move around, meaning I can easily plan to go out without worrying about which pair of shoes to wear. This is because rainy weather which brings rivers of water to the streets and roads, is absolutely troublesome. Sometimes you even need a waist- high rain boots for flooded streets which I do not have. Therefore, I'd rather be stuck at home. We always anticipate this phenomenon, so we buy extra food to stock the fridge, freezer and cupboards in order to survive.

Although rainy season is this troublesome, it does have its upside. My electric bill is significantly lower and the plants look very happy. Interesting how some plants love the rain as well as the sun. And watching their flexibility is wonderful. If I were a plant, I would be more of a succulent, though. I don't like direct sunlight and water me sparingly.

Summer season is so hot. Temperature may reach to 35°C but it feels like 41°C to maybe even 50°C. What makes it worse is that the humidity is quite high too. Imagine getting out of the shower and immediately sweating! 🥵 I change my clothing many times a day. I feel like, "Oh my, I have so much water in me--yeah, like a succulent. And it feels like everytime I rehydrate, I just start sweating more right after. 🥵 What I drink seems to come out in a matter of seconds through more sweating. This weather drives me insane big time.

But of course, I drink for health reason to avoid getting headache and other dehydration symptoms. Doing outdoor activities isn't wise, but at least in the early morning or late afternoon, it's possible to go for a walk, do some gardening, etc. The AC is my best friend, and I wish I could keep it on 24 hours a day. However , I only turn it on at night because the cost of electricity is so high. The electric fans work hard during the daytime. All of these make my day livable.

So well, having said all that, I just have to try to enjoy and brave both seasons -- the wet and the dry.

Harmattan Season: My Nightmare LOH#312

‎When I saw this topic, I was happy because I was finally going to tell everyone who cared to know how much I get scared and uncomfortable when Harmattan seasons approached.

‎I live in one of the countries in the Western part of Africa, Nigeria. And we often have at least three seasons, the Rainy season which most of the time causes a lot of havoc to lives and property; by way of excessive flooding, whirl storms and wind, extreme cold especially when you find yourself in the Northern areas like Plateau, Niger, and the rest. The dry season which sometimes leaves you begging for your life, it is characterized by dryness, hot sun, dehydration, heat, etc. And the third and most unbearable one for me is the Harmattan season.

‎You remember where the bible talked about lukewarmness, that's how I see the Harmattan season. You are most likely to feel either warm or cold, sometimes you can't truly tell which one you're feeling, and that makes it even more unbearable. Still in the Harmattan season, you would experience the harshness of the atmosphere, you see some people's skin having scales like fishes, parts of their body becomes white, cracked libs, tears and sores. In this season is best you have body oils to take care of your skin, lib gloss, do a regular maintenance on your hair because you do not want to look homeless. However, you may not really experience the Harmattan in areas with many houses, heavily populated place where trees are hardly found. Places like Lagos, Port Harcourt, because they're closer to the water. But you would get a full does of it if you're living in areas characterized by thick forests, and trees.

‎The reason Harmattan is the most difficult season for me is because I do not sometimes understand why it can't take one side, why would I feel extreme cold in the early hours of the day, and then towards noon time, I'm struggling to breath because the weather becomes harsh, dusty and mysteriously warm. The cold automatically disappears... How? where is the cold that almost got me freezed, and why am I finding myself in-between thick clothes and light ones? I get confused sometimes. And to crown it all, there is a certain way it makes me feel; drained, exhausted, uncomfortable because of its harshness. Although it has just one advantage which is, you can decide to wash at anytime and still find your cloths dry on time, even the thick ones. That's the only good thing I think it does.

‎How I manage the three months of discomfort
‎Honestly, I do not think I have ever found Harmattan bearable, but, what I mostly do is cover up properly in the mornings, then go for lighter wears in the noon, then return to something thicker in the evenings. Also, I always carry body oils, lib glosses, wherever I go, to protect my skin, and for my hair, I go for protective styles, not something too tight, just weaves, and loose braids, so I don't get injuries or cracked scalp as a result of the harshness of the weather. And because of the dust too, I think wearing sunglasses and nose masks helps too so the eyes and the nose can be protected from excessive dust.

‎I will end by saying: I can manage extreme cold, not extreme heat. But what scares me most is the Harmattan, we have never been in terms😅

¡Hola queridas Damas de Hive! Espero que se encuentren muy bien. En esta nueva semana tenemos preguntas de @thekittygirl para el concurso comunitario con temas referidos a las estaciones climáticas del año.

Las zonas templadas del mundo suelen experimentar cuatro "estaciones" del año: primavera, verano, otoño e invierno. Pero algunas partes del mundo tienen una "estación seca", una "estación de lluvias" o "estaciones" en las que hay tormentas frecuentes, frío extremo, calor extremo, El Niño, Harmattan, etc. ¿Cuál es la estación del año más difícil para ti? ¿Por qué es difícil y qué haces para hacerlo soportable?

Las estaciones menos queridas para mí son en las que hace mucho frío. Ahora es primavera en mi país, pero estamos atravesados por el fenómeno del Niño y las temperaturas están más bajas de lo normal para esta época del año, no solo eso, sino que hay muchas lluvias. Yo vivo en Buenos Aires y casi no estamos viendo el sol, son días grises, húmedos, lluviosos y fríos. Esto me está enloqueciendo un poco porque suelo disfrutar de la primavera, de juntarnos en un parque con mis amigas para pasar el día, pero con estos días está siendo imposible. Y ni hablar de la falta de luz solar, se siente un montón el cambio en el estado de ánimo.

Con decirles que cada vez que sale un rayo de sol abandono todo lo que estoy haciendo y salgo a absorberlo con desesperación. Es increíble. Esto no pasaba hace mucho, en años anteriores siempre fue todo más ameno. Ni hablar de muchas provincias y ciudades que están completamente inundadas, animales que intentan sobrevivir como pueden porque está todo desbordado. Es desesperante la situación, la verdad es que no veo la hora de que esté fenómeno se vaya, supuestamente está pronosticado que esté hasta fines de enero, veremos. Si es así a lo mejor tengamos un verano menos caluroso que de costumbre, eso se agradece, pero solo espero que los días mejoren y no sean tan grises.

Creo que en otra etapa de mi vida me hubiera hecho mal este clima, pero ahora trato de soportarlo lo mejor posible y tener fe en que no hay mal que dure para siempre. Además, los períodos de sequía y calor extremo tampoco son buenos. Pero ahora hay un claro desequilibrio y espero que todo mejore pronto.

Como lo exprese en la otra respuesta, la verdad es que solemos tener más variedad de climas, pero suelen ser estables y esperables. Ahora está todo dado vuelta la verdad. Yo suelo ser más feliz en los períodos de temperatura más templada, ni mucho frío, ni mucho calor, sino donde puedas estar tranquila, sin abrigo y sin necesidad de usar el aire acondicionado. Para la época del año en la que estamos todavía no me saco los buzos ni las camperas de encima, cuando en otros años a esta altura ya andaba en remera y, tal vez, un abrigo liviano. Lo bueno es que no estamos usando la calefacción, aunque esta casa es algo fría, tratamos de soportarlo y mantenernos abrigados. Si es por preferencias, sí, prefiero los climas más estables donde todo sea predecible.

# Cuba: Un eterno verano y el verdadero desafío del clima tropical 🇨🇺/ # Cuba: An Eternal Summer and the Real Challenge of Tropical Weather 🇬🇧

Hola a todos en esta bella comunidad, espero que se encuentren muy bien.

Las zonas templadas del mundo suelen experimentar cuatro estaciones bien definidas: primavera, verano, otoño e invierno. Pero, ¿cómo se viven realmente estas etapas en Cuba?

El clima de la isla es tropical, estacionalmente húmedo, con una fuerte influencia del mar y ciertos rasgos de semicontinentalidad. Por nuestra posición geográfica, tan cerca del Trópico de Cáncer, recibimos altos valores de radiación solar durante todo el año, lo que define el carácter cálido de nuestra tierra. Además, estamos justo en la frontera entre la circulación tropical y la extratropical, recibiendo la influencia de ambas según la época del año.

Entre noviembre y abril, las variaciones del tiempo son más notables. Vivimos cambios bruscos asociados al paso de frentes fríos y anticiclones continentales. Por el contrario, de mayo a octubre el tiempo varía muy poco, bajo la influencia marcada del Anticiclón del Atlántico Norte.

¿Cómo percibimos los cubanos este clima?

A partir de marzo las temperaturas empiezan a subir hasta volverse casi insoportables en junio, julio y agosto, rozando a veces los 38°C. Luego descienden un poco entre diciembre y febrero, manteniéndose alrededor de los 25°C. En momentos muy específicos, por la llegada de frentes fríos, el termómetro puede bajar por un par de días hasta los 6°C o 7°C en algunas zonas, sobre todo en el occidente del país.

En la práctica, los cubanos sentimos que solo vivimos dos estaciones: verano e "invierno" (si se le puede llamar así). El otoño y la primavera son prácticamente imperceptibles.

El verano es, sin duda, una época complicada. El sol es tan fuerte que salir a la calle se convierte en un desafío. Hay que salir con sombrilla, gafas y ropa que cubra bien el cuerpo... ¡bueno, prácticamente terminamos disfrazados! jaja. Y por las noches, a veces se hace difícil conciliar el sueño por el mismo calor, una situación que se vuelve más cuesta arriba cuando sufrimos los largos cortes eléctricos que nos impiden encender ventiladores o aires acondicionados.

El verdadero desafío: La temporada que no es estación

Si me preguntan cuál es la época del año más difícil para mí, por qué lo es y qué hago para sobrellevarla, mi respuesta podría sorprenderlos. Aunque el calor es fuerte, ya estamos bastante adaptados a él; después de todo, como se dice por ahí, Cuba es un eterno verano.

Para los cubanos, la temporada más difícil e importante no es una estación climática tradicional: es la temporada ciclónica.

Esta temporada se extiende desde el 1 de junio hasta el 30 de noviembre. Durante estos seis meses, se pueden formar en el mar eventos que van desde tormentas tropicales con lluvias abundantes hasta huracanes de gran intensidad. Estos últimos son sumamente destructivos: derrumban hogares, causan inundaciones severas y provocan pérdidas enormes de cultivos, animales e incluso vidas humanas.

En esta época, lo más importante es mantenerse informados a través de los medios. Ante cualquier amenaza, nos preparamos reforzando las viviendas, podando árboles peligrosos y almacenando agua potable y alimentos. También se realizan evacuaciones organizadas para proteger a las personas que viven en casas vulnerables o cerca de las costas. Afortunadamente, este año no hemos tenido el impacto de ninguno de estos fenómenos naturales.

Un deseo para el futuro

Aunque amo mi tierra, admito que me gustaría algún día poder disfrutar de todas las estaciones en su máximo esplendor: contemplar el otoño con sus matices naranjas, sentir el invierno con su nieve, y ver renacer la primavera con sus flores y la explosión de colores que trae consigo.

Temperate regions around the world usually experience four distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. But how are these seasons actually experienced in Cuba?

The climate on the island is tropical, seasonally humid, with a strong maritime influence and certain semi-continental features. Due to our geographical location, very close to the Tropic of Cancer, we receive high levels of solar radiation throughout the year, which shapes the warm nature of our homeland. Additionally, we sit right on the border between tropical and extratropical circulation zones, meaning we are seasonally influenced by both.

Ladies of Hive (LOH) tokens are part of the Ladies of Hive community on the Hive blockchain. The community focuses on empowering and encouraging female voices on Hive by supporting, uplifting, and learning from one another.

The LOH tokens, also known as LADY tokens, were created to reward members for their contributions to the Ladies of Hive community.

LOH tokens can be acquired through various means.

The primary way that members can earn LOH tokens is by posting articles in the Ladies of Hive community, or using the #ladiesofhive tag on the first five of an article, or participating in contests, and engaging with the community.

Most users stake their LOH tokens

and call on the LadyToken bot by using !LADY in a comment. This allows them to give away small amounts of LOH tokens to others while also earning tokens themselves.

The number of staked LOH tokens will determine the frequency of !LADY calls one can make. The more LOH tokens you stake, the more frequently you can use the !LADY command to share LOH tokens.
