The reset mental button has pretty much been pressed and I'm looking forward to week 10 in the league which has one very interesting match this evening between Zulte-Waregem and Club Brugge which I took some positions in and shared on the SBC Discord.

One of the more succesfull trends of the past week as been to oppose Zulte-Waregem as they are overrated on the market after a good start but lately they simply haven't been good which was confirmed last week. They lost their 4 last matches and they failed to score in each of them. Club Brugge remains strong with 2 key offensive players Forbs & Tresoldi in great form but they usually get high lines and often take it a bit too easy after taking a lead with multiple goals which makes it tricky to bet them in-game and a better option is always to wait in-game for better lines or late for them to strike on the counter the moment when the opponents need to go forward. This week, the line felt quite soft also because Zulte-Waregem has been overrated on the market and I did not wait for odds to go down to take some on Club Brugge. My main bet I see as 0.215 units on Club Brugge -1 @ 1.934 (it came down to 1.6 odds by now, but I also took 0.3 units on Club Brugge 1st Half -0.5 @ 1.989 along with 0.2 units on Zulte-Waregem Team Total Under 1 @ 1.880. If the Halftime bets loses or if Club Brugge fall behind, I will most likely add to my FT Position. This just feels like a match where the worst case scenario is Club Brugge playing badly but still winning it narrowly at the end. Zulte-Waregem taking a point or more would be a major upset. I also took a small crypto bet on Club Brugge 1H -0.5 @ 2.03 over at Sportbet.one

I know, I know, this isn't a baseball photo, but it was the best I can do while I am on the road. I just wanted to write a short post today to give the Milwaukee Brewers a shout out on clinching the World Series victory last night in game five 4 to 1. I got the chance to watch a good portion of the game from my hotel room and it was an interesting juxtaposition. It felt like the Brewers were pretty well in control most of the game, but it also felt like Tampa Bay could break loose at any second and even things up. It's not like Milwaukee was running away with it.

In the end though, the four runs they scored (almost five), turned out to be enough. That ball was definitely foul tipped. Sorry for anyone that had any money riding on them scoring that extra run. This was honestly a really great series even though it was relatively short. We got to see two teams who had never been there before battle for the title, and in the end we got to see the Brewers hoist the trophy. It might have been on hostile ground, but I don't think they probably mind too much.

Although I didn't watch a ton of baseball this year, I am still a bit sad that the season is now over. I was talking to my brother in law a couple weekends ago, and he said that he doesn't think there is going to be a baseball season next year. Owners seem to be angling for a salary cap, and the players obviously don't want that, so there is a good chance there is going to be a players strike next year.

It's possible this might be the last major league baseball we see for a while.

Who knows, maybe the softball viewership will tick up a little bit because of it!

That's roughly seven weeks to go so start planning. Course we don't want you to enter straight away. Injuries could play a crucial part in your selection process over the next couple of week.

The format

FIFA split 48 nations into 4 pots of 12. You pick 4 teams from each pot — 16 teams total — and slap a unique multiplier from 1 to 16 on each. Higher multiplier = you're more confident = more points when that team cooks.

Half fantasy, half conviction test. Yes, you can whack Argentina with a ×16 — but that means you've then only got a ×1 left for whoever you rate from Pot 4, and four of your picks are coming from the likes of Haiti, Curaçao, Cape Verde, Czechia. Those teams don't need to win the thing. They just need to nick a couple of points you weren't expecting.

Then you lodge a tie-breaker guess: how many goals the tournament will cough up in regulation time. Group stage plus knockouts. Extra time and pens don't count. Use it to separate yourself from the herd.

How you score

Every match your picked teams play:

Win → 3 points
Draw → 1 point
Goal scored → 1 point per goal

Multiply by the coefficient you gave that team. Then hand it in.

If you've got Brazil on a ×10 and they win 3-0, that's (3 + 3) × 10 = 60 points.
If you've got Curaçao on a ×1 and they lose 4-0, that's zero. It happens.

Knockout bonuses — this is where it gets interesting

Teams that make it past the group stage rack up cumulative bonuses. Every round reached pays on top of the match points. All multiplied by your coefficient, obviously.

Round of 16 → +3
Quarter-final → +4
Semi-final → +5
Runner-up → +6
Champion → +7

Pick the eventual winner with a ×16 multiplier and just their knockout bonuses are worth (2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 7) × 16 = 336 points. On top of every match point they rack up along the way.

This is why your ×16 is a terrifying decision.
